It helps the environment
You Care About The Environment…
Here at Pay As You Drive, we understand that you are concerned about pollution, and you know that cars are a major contributor to pollution and global warming. So you want to do your bit to help protect our environment and you are driving less.
And So Do We…
One of the reasons we are so excited about the Pay As You Drive product is because of the benefits it could have on protecting our environment. You might be surprised to learn that an American study recently found that if just 30% of all drivers in California used PAYD insurance between now and 2020, it would be equivalent to taking 10 million cars off the road! After all, we all want to see our beautiful Australian environment preserved for our children and grandchildren to enjoy in the future.
Pay As You Drive wins Climate Business Award
Real Insurance is proud to announce that it has won the 2010 Money Magazine Best of the Best Climate Business Award. The presitious Best of the Best awards are now in their 9th year, with Real Insurance previously winning the ‘Cheapest Car Insurance’ category.
Real Insurance has been honoured with the Climate Business award due to its innovative Pay As You Drive car insurance product, which rewards customers for helping the environment by driving less.
Environmentally conscious motorists, who are cutting down on driving their cars in response to climate concerns should be rewarded for driving less.
Says Grobler: “A study conducted by the Brookings Institute in Washington last year found that introducing pay-as-you-drive insurance would generate an eight percent saving in CO2 emissions, nearly two-thirds of households in the US would have lower premiums and the average savings for that group would be $276 per vehicle per year.”
Your Reward for helping the environment
Every time you drive your car, you are releasing damaging greenhouse gasses into our atmosphere. Here at Pay as You Drive, we understand that you care about the environment, so you are driving less. So we want to reward you for helping the environment.
It’s simple really. If you drive your car less than the average person in your neighbourhood, you cause less damage to the environment. And because you are driving less than the average person in your neighbourhood, we will charge you less for your insurance. It’s our way of rewarding you for helping the environment.
Imagine a world where everyone saved money by driving less. Now imagine how great that would be for our environment!

Carbon offset
Your car releases greenhouse gases into the environment every time you drive it. If you plant trees to balance the greenhouse gases you create, you are offsetting the carbon you produce.
PAYD has partnered with Greenfleet to help you offset your car’s emissions easily when you purchase your policy. Instead of planting the trees yourself, you can make a donation to Greenfleet who will manage the process for you. The donation amount is calculated by vehicle, fuel type and distance travelled, plus it is tax deductible.

- Greenfleet encourages organisations and individuals to reduce the greenhouse gases they produce and offset the remaining emissions by planting native forests.
- Greenfleet is a not-for-profit organisation that plants biodiverse (or mixed species) native forests to reduce your car’s impact on the environment.
- Greenfleet is an Approved Abatement Provider under the Federal Government’s Greenhouse Friendly™ initiative.
- Pay As You Drive is affiliated with Greenfleet and your donation will be passed on to them directly.
- Pay As You Drive does not make money on the donation amount and the full donation amount will be transferred to Greenfleet.
- You will receive a tax deductible receipt from Greenfleet as well as their newsletter (3 per year). Remember to keep the receipt and claim on your tax return.
